Liberty-Water Gap Trail: PA Extension

The Liberty-Water Gap Trail is envisioned to connect Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ with Delaware Water Gap, PA. The Liberty-Water Gap: PA Extension Alliance is a group of partners working through collaborative efforts to plan and build the trail's 6 mile PA Extension to connect Portland Borough, Upper Mount Bethel, and Delaware Water Gap to form the Pennsylvania portion of the full trail.

A Feasibility Study was completed in 2013 by Cambell Thomas & Company with Strauss and Associates/Planners with funding support from PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. The study recommends construction of a dedicated pathway, parallel to PA Route 611, that will provide a safe route for non-motorized travel between boroughs of Portland and Delaware Water Gap.
